Inaugural World Series Qualifiers Underway at PKR.com

Young online poker room, PKR.com, has begun running its first-ever World Series of Poker qualifying tournaments. In an attempt to keep things interesting for its customers, the site has setup a number of different ways for players to make a run at history.

The Ultimate World Series Experience

Prize: $12,500 WSOP Package -- $10,000 in WSOP chips to be spent on any event(s), $2,500 spending money.

Number of Winners: Minimum of 5.

Qualifying Method: May 25 multi-table tournament, which can be entered via direct buy-in or satellite. Customers who accumulate 200,000 PKR points by May 20 also earn an entry.

Team PKR

Five Separate Prizes: Entry into $1,500 pot-limit Omaha event, the $1,500 no-limit hold‘em shootout, the $5,000 no-limit hold‘em heads-up event, and the $5,000 no-limit hold‘em short-handed event, plus spending money.

Number of Winners: 1 for each.

Qualifying Method: Different methods for each tournament. To earn a seat in the shootout qualifier, players must earn points playing Sit-and-Go’s. For the short-handed event, it’s short-handed cash table play, and for the heads-up event, one needs to earn points in heads-up Sit-and-Go’s. The Omaha qualifier simply has satellites.

Queen of Poker

Prize: $3,000 WSOP package -- $1,000 buy-in for the Ladies no-limit hold’em event, $2,000 spending money.

Number of Winners: Minimum of 3.

Qualifying Method: Weekly multi-table satellite.

Additionally, any member of Team PKR (which includes the Ladies event qualifiers) who makes a final table at the WSOP will receive $10,000. A Team PKR member who wins a bracelet will receive a year-long sponsorship from PKR.com, which includes $100,000 in entry fees to major land-based tournaments.
