Harrah’s Entertainment, owner of the World Series of Poker brand, is studying the case for a new, WSOP-branded internet poker room.  According to CEO Gary Loveman, the initial thought is that the poker room would target Europe, including the United Kingdom.

Because of the current legislative environment in the United States, a WSOP poker room would not be open to U.S. customers.  Gary Thompson, Director of Communications for the WSOP said that the company would not enter any market “where there are any gray areas.”

It is too bad that a major American company, which runs the richest sporting event in the world would be unable to do business in its own country, but that’s what things have come to nowadays.
