Four Winds Casino Resort Opens World's Largest Electronic Poker Room

The state of Michigan’s newest casino, the Four Winds Casino Resort in New Buffalo, opened August 2, featuring six restaurants, five bars, and 165 hotel rooms.  But the most interesting aspect of Four Winds is its nineteen table poker room, unique in that it is completely electronic.  There are no dealers, chips, cards, or almost anything one would see in a traditional poker room.  Just nineteen automated tables.

The tables are from PokerTek’s PokerPro line.  Most are standard, ten-seat tables, but four are the company’s new heads-up versions.  Each player has an individual touch screen in front of him where he can see his cards and chips, can enter his action, and follow the action at the rest of the table, sort of like how one would view the game at an online poker room.  A larger display in the middle of the table shows the community cards, bets, and pot size.  PokerTek says that the tables can deal 50 percent more hands than traditional tables. 

The poker room will spread Texas hold’em and Omaha cash games, single and multi-table tournaments, and heads-up tournaments.
