Same... that dude is drawing. If he pops you on the turn, abort.

Couldn't this be a read on his part? If you put him on a lower ace, maybe he thinks you are drawing and want to get him off his hand? I could possibly see aq/at play like this depending on how they view you.
Have you been buying any pots lately? How many hands have you shown lately? The strongest plays a tight player can make are when they play a loose hand. the strongest plays a loose player can make are when they play a tight hand. Perhaps he's trying to pull a fast one on you?

agree except that you have to bet river if blank.

No way... check/call is the way to go. You don't want to get raised on the river.

He had 6% VPIP for the last 50 hands, so I didn't want to risk it. I c/fd the turn (he put out a $7 bet). I figured I played this badly, but... he called my raise, and he called the pot bet.
I had good table image. I had stacked a few of the short $5 donks (replete with showdown) earlier, and he had been watching.
I think I was psyched out. In my mind I thought he was on AA, KK and I lose, or at best AK and we split.
Looking back at it I see now that I should have led out on the turn. But the way I saw it and felt the hand while playing was that if I called that $7 bet on the turn, it was going to be an expensive showdown, and I probably wouldn't like the result.
Let me know if this is terrible unprofitable thinking. Being burnt by the supertight with AK is something I have tried to avoid.

also, since we think he's on a draw, he's just gonna fold if we bet. but if we check, we might snap off a bluff
