Forgive me if I made any amateurish mistakes here. This was a play money game. I'm trying to improve my game. This hand is a perfect example of when I have a very good hand, but I am worried someone else may have it beat, yet it's too good not to bet.

If he had pocket aces he probably would have raised before the flop.

If he had AA, a preflop raise would be likely. If he has AA, you pay him off. However, what if villain has AT, A4, Ax,99, 44, T4, 2 paint, diamond draw? You're missing out on value if he has any of those.

Another thing to think about: Let's say you raise AA and villain calls. Everyone else folds. Flop comes A22. Do you check for fear that villain has 22?

Why slow down on the river? You're beaten by 2 hands, and with the lack of pf raise, really only AT is to be feared. At low/microlimits (inc. play money), I have to think I'm up against Ax 10x as often as AT. I simply don't give the villian credit for the nuts at these limits. At higher limits ($5-10 or higher) yes.
