William Hill has doubled their bonus for September
by johnny » Sat Sep 02, 2006 10:33 pm
This month William Hill has replaced Benny for my favorite Brit Hill.
They are paying 10 pounds per hour played for your first 5 hours for the month. Minumum tables are $1/$2 limit or $100NL. So, basically, donk around on $1/$2 limit for 5 hours and make $95.20 in bonuses. Multi tables count for time played, so playing 2 tables for 2.5 hours would do it and so on.
I just cleared it and the tables seem to be looser than normal there, which means that the players aren't quite tight enough to shoot diamonds out of their butts. However, I got a few tables that were mid 20s VP. In my book ya just can't beat a bonus that pays a guaranteed $19.04 per hour.

A mystery series (that flies very well even though the murderer is usually known in the first 5 minutes) about a detective in a trenchcoat with a lazy dog and an old imported car, eh?
I would watch it with ya if I could!

I've never done the casino bonus, but as I understand they are in fact separate. However, there is no deposit requirement for the poker bonus so you can just play with money that's in there.

I found out through Hill's monthly promotions email. Here's a link to their promotion page. http://williamhillpoker.com/free_paid.htm
You have to time it yourself. I use a nifty little retro freeware program. I've hosted it on my server in case anyone wants to download it. http://www.retrohappypeople.com/fcgallery/mr-egg.exe
What I do is start up one instance of mr-egg for each table I have running and set them for an hour each and keep track of it that way. If I sit out or leave one table for another it's easy to stop that particular timer.
After you have a combined total of at least one hour ticked off your various timers you can click on the cashier and check the "account statement" button. There you should see the bonus award credited to the account as "awarded for play" or something close to that. It will be one 10 pound increment for every hour played this month, normally it is 5 pounds. If your currency is not british pounds your exact amount will vary with the current exchange rate. You will not see it show up until after you have left your tables.

The software is buggy but the game moves fast. They don't update the table stats in the window where you select your tables to play often enough. The biggest problem I have had is buying in to a table from the waiting list. The window pops up and you enter the amount to take with you. If I don't tab out of the entry box before continuing it sometimes errors out and you lose your seat. Worse, when you try to get back on that table it says you're already there and won't let you. Only once in the 7 months I have played there I switched to a table when it was my turn and all the action buttons were gone. Actually, I think that was from clicking the "options" button. I don't touch those buttons anymore. I had to close out the software and restart and auto folded the hand. Other than that it's worked fine. Better in recent months too. They have run some freerolls the past couple of months to apologize for the glitches. The players are usually tight but seem to have loosened up this month, at least when I played. I've only played $1/$2 Limit, where I'm sure all the bonus whores are, so I can't speak to the tightness of higher denominations.

The poker and casino bonuses are seperate, so you can do both. The software is the eaxct same as any other crypto skin, except that William Hill uses its own cashier system. The players are normally tight enough to shit diamonds at full tables, while shorthanded looks to be pretty average, and stud 1/2 is a jopke. High limit games are somewhat sparse, as is any sort of Omaha.
Personally, I think the people who benefit most from the bonus are $50 NL players. There's a reasonable amount of action, and you don't need to worry about raked hands on an hourly bonus. I know a ton of bonus whores hit this religously, five tabling and stealing the blinds every month. It pretty well sucks if you single table though, as you can find a better game elsewhere.
