Where you guys play WoW?

I just bought a new comp and figured I could give this game a try. My old comp couldn't handle it so I never bothered. Anyway any tips, where to play and such would be helpful.

I know nothing of the game really, but my only advice would be to get in a guild asap so they can show you the ropes a bit. That's how I got started in Guild Wars when I played it.
Have you seen that new game Vanguard? That looks pretty good as well. What's your comp like now?

New comp is the AMD Live x2 dual core, 2gb ram, 500 hard drive, Geforce 6150 le (integrated tho). Pretty fucking sweet only problem is I have to go buy the new Quickbooks for Vista which is gonna cost me another 200.

The people I used to play WoW with have moved on to Vanguard. They love it and give it mad props. I haven't played WoW since I before I learned that the proper use of teh internets is poker. Which is also why I haven't joined them in Vanguard. I just can't sit here and spend the time playing when I know I'd be missing out on poker winnings. Now, if I only sucked at poker enough to lose money I would enjoy Vanguard!

Myself and a few mates play on the Aussie servers, but we also have old characters on Kirin Tor, which is an American server (from when there were no AUS servers).
A good site for getting some intro is http://wow.allakhazam.com/, although some of it is out of date. Probably the most fun you're going to have is getting a mate or two in the same room and going questing. Also fun if it's virtual. If no mates who play with you, then just make a friend on the game, if you see someone just say hi. If it's a RP server then most people are more than happy to group up.

The neighbor kid is the funniest to watch. He'll get up and walk into the kitchen and grab a glass of milk. I ask him if he told his group he was leaving.
No.
Are they still fighting?
Yes.
Aren't you the healer?
Umm.
Your warrior is dead.
Haha.
Anytime i hear WoW i cant stop thinking of the South Park spoof.

Sounds like the exact same comp I bought in December. The old when went dead and I bought that one the next day 'cause it was cheap but still good for what I need.
I've still gotta put in for the free Vistas upgrade, assuming I want Vista.

GG, Eruu.
As for the original question, I play Horde now on Anub'arak server. I've got a lvl 34 Warrior main, and a lvl 10 alt (used for leather and blacksmith).
If you sign up there, send me a note and I'll help you out.
I've also got Alliance Mage on Bonechewer, but I don't play that one anymore....but it's an option for you if you prefer Ally and want my help.

Why didn't anyone tell me that this game makes you lose hours of your life without even noticing. Last night I put the kids to sleep had a smoke and decide to play for a little while. So I begin a new char a Tauren Shaman which is pretty fun btw, at 8:30pm, I smoke usually every 45-60 minutes, I finally get up for a smoke and look at the clock its fucking 11pm ????????? Where did the time go? So I sit down after my smoke and play some more and I get up to go to sleep and look at the time its fucking 1:30am geez man.

WoW is like crack. I lost 2 roommates in college to it. One guy stopped going to classes halfway through the semester and just stayed in his room all the time playing like 18 hours a day or something sick. The other one sometimes went to class but failed almost all of them
Just say no to WoW!

As far as actual tips go...
1. Take Mining and Skinning as your professions.
a) Mining - check your AH and either sell the ore or bars, depending.
2. Don't learn non-gathering pro until after 40 and you have mount.
3. Run thru instances a couple times if you've got a good group. Phat loot = good, and don't be afraid to 'need' it as long as you use it right away.
4. Don't be a ninja!!!
