God, how I love a good, passionate hockey discussion. The most important thing for NHL hockey is to be at its best come playoff time. This is where most of its exposure to the not-so-hard core fans among us occurs. If hockey ever wants to grow within the States, this is how it must happen.
During hockey's darkest times, playoff hockey has rarely disappointed. Like Miami, I reserve judgement until Gary "the Dicksmoker" Bettman has awarded the Cup to the winning captain. But I am expecting a truly great playoffs based on the product we've seen so far. Hitting has always been ratcheted up a notch in the spring. With more ice to work with for the skilled players, I think we'll see series looking more like Islanders/Oilers of the early 1980s that contained everything: Hard hitting, excellent scoring chances, and (my personal favorite) superb goaltending.
That said, there's nothing like watching a scoreless game into 4 OTs as long as there is a good flow (up and down the ice) occasionally interrupted by the well-timed open ice check, mixed in with a few scoring chances. Is it April/May yet??????

With the Eagles sucking out this year, I can't wait for some Flyers playoff games! All the Flyers games are broadcast in HD this year too so I haven't missed too many of them.

Even though the Blackhawks suck this year, watching their games in HD is nice. Wait, never mind. Bill Wirtz is a asshole and doesn't televise the Hawks home games.
I don't understand the marketing concept there. Just because you don't put the game on TV doesn't mean I'm going to pay for a ticket to see a game. The Chicao Wolves get more of my money than the Hawks do.
Sorry, end rant and hijack.
