The most important thing was for me to understand the theory of the game. I have started to play online poker couple of months ago and to tell the truth my game was totally intuitive without any strategic concepts. After having decided to improve my skills online forums and sources were searched for. But the more material I abused first the more frustration resulted. If you want to learn fundamental things too fast without taking reasonable time to think it over you will be not able to be as effective as you want to.
I have to work on to improve the ability to mix my style at the tables (aggressive or tight) and it is crucial not to underestimate the importance of understanding the opponents styles and strategics.
Sincerely,
Andrew

Definitely believe the biggest improvement that I have made is hand selection and position play. I used to play any two cards and get burnt time and time again.
I believe I need to improve in becoming patient as the tournaments near there ending. Time and again as the blinds increase I go in with minimal hands.

What is the area that you have most improved on in your game from this site or the forum? Also, what areas do you need to work on to improve your game more?
Well since i recently became a member of this forum i can't really answer the first question but what i do know is how much i have improved from the day i started playing poker.
I made very common newbie mistakes like calling many hands from every position and calling every suited hand even if it was a 7 2. And if i became lucky and win a couple of bucks like 30 or something then i went to cash games with high limits so i could make 1 or maybe 2 buy ins. And that usually ended up with me loosing all the money. All though cash game differs from tournaments i still think i can handle it now but i just have to be alittle more patient maybe wait untill ive won about 100 bucks on freerolls then go to the 0.10/0.25 tables so i have a couple of more buy ins if a bad beat will ocurr.
I made a misstake a couple of days ago. Won 30 bucks then went to a 0.25/0.5 table. Got AQ suited in hearts. Raised to 2bucks, 2 calls. flopp comes Qd 8c 5c so i bet 5 bucks one calls one folds. Turn is a 2s. I went all in. He called and showed 55.
This hand is perticulary hard to read. He calls the preflop raise. that way you can exclude that he has AQ. Then he calls my bet of 5 wich i would say he probably had QJ or a flush draw and was afraid that I had a higher kicker. its hard to think he has tripps when he just calls the flop. I wouldve raised because there was a flush draw out. What if i wouldve had AQ suited in clubs then he would be in much trouble if a club wouldve came on the turn or river. Since he played the hand wrong i had no idea how to read him either. When i went all in on the turn i thoght he might have a flush draw so i wanted to drive him out.
Well enough about that bad beat now lets talk about my improvements. I have learned to control my play in several ways. For example position play, playing the correct cards and methods on how to play the MTT´s.
So in other ways the things i need to learn is not to be so greedy and not to put everything on the line on a single session. Then ofcourse i need to keep on playing so i can get more experience.

I thank to all the ones that supported me and the good thing of the poker, aside from the play, is to be able to share cultures, languages and experiences of all parts of the world. Thanks TightPoker by giving us this possibility.

I'm new to the forum but I grew up playing poker, just not hold'em. I had to learn new poker skills. I knew to play tight but I find myself playing too tight at times. I need to be more aggressive in the middle rounds of tourneys. I have learned to stop getting upset at bingo players and flush chasers.

I think that is my problem I don't play quality JANDS preflop. I don't know where to find the NEX fish that get runner runner FLUCJ, but I assume that they play at party.

Strategy
by bigkilroy » Tue Jan 10, 2006 12:46 pm
I have read a lot of post on strategy and my own general consenses is that playing a strong starter hand and not chasing after the flop unless your hand improves is about the best the strategy that works for me. But sometimes you have to say what the hell and take a chance. At those times I try to be sure that if it does not work out that I have enough chips that I will not be out of the tournament.

Well like one guy said...I am also new to this site so I have not learned anything from the forums on your site in general but I have learned a bunch since starting online poker play. The first thing I learned is that some people love to go all in right away and build big stacks or they just get knocked out with their crappy cards. So I always start out slow and wait out some of those guys then I pounce. I have learned that online there is no bluffing, as players will call with anything (especially pocket pairs no matter what overs come). This tells me a couple things - 1. I have a great chance to win most tourneys and 2. I can take average hands and play them stronger because more people call and bluff at the pots online. Anyways thats basically what I have learned recently and I look forward to posting and reading your forums on tightpoker.

I am new to this site and it is very simialr to others, which is a good thing. I have been a member to a lot of other sites for years now and I always like seeing new ones. As I have been checking out the site however, I am noticing things that are not so similar. I really like how limit and no limit catagories are broken up. Most forums don't do this. Most ppl only play no limit and it is annoying to read about pot limit because the startagies are different. I really learn a lot by reading what ppl do in certain situations and over the years my game has really improved. I also like the small stakes and high stakes catagories because these stratagies are different also. When ppl play in freerolls and 2 dollar buy ins they will gamble more because they really arent loosing anything. But try playing a 50 dollar buy in. You will see a huge difference in your game. I know I did. No matter how many years you play poker, there is always rooms for improvement. People that think they can play a few months and say they have 'mastered' poker drive me nuts. And if you play them and they win they think they are the best ever. Yes poker is a lot of skill but there is luck in there too. And thats usually how these ppl tend to win. Where I need to imrpove my game is learning when to bluff or not. It seems impossible to bluff in low stakes room and thats where I can talk about this type of stuff on this site. I don't talk on sites that much though but I read more. But since I am new, I would like to say high to everyone that knows me on TITAN POKER.
