What I have learned the most from tightPoker and what I stil
by ezbreezer » Mon Jan 09, 2006 6:36 pm
I believe what I have learned the most is to mix up my style a little here and there, TightPoker players as arule are pretty astute at reading players. Therefor, on some hands I tend to be real agressive and other times, though I may have the same hand, i play very conservative.I believe this has helped me as far as making it harder for my opponent to get a good read on me. I still need to cut down on my fishing, especially when I don't have adequate bait.

hi i just joined this forum. This is the first poker forum i joined, so i am not sure what to really expect. I guess i came here looking for hints and help. I hope i can improve my gameplay from other people's advice, since i am just a small timer.
I been playing online poker for about a year on and off, but i never got really interested. I usually like to play poker and be across from opponents that i can see. Usually i can get tells when someone is frustrated, thats when i can take an advantage. So thats why i am here, on the forum. How are you suppose to have the upper hand in an online poker tournament? I sometimes can never tell if someone is bluffing or not. I know i will need to aquire online tells' otherwise the money i invested is down the drain.
I look foward to not be a lurker on this site, but a longtime member.

What is the area that you have most improved on in your game from this site or the forum? Also, what areas do you need to work on to improve your game more?
Hmmmm, since I am a new member to this forum, I cannot say that I've had a chance to really learn anything from here as of yet. But, I can say that because of other poker forums I've visited before this one, and from all of the online play I've had over the past few months, I'd have to say that my game has improved by watching others, trying to learn how they play their cards. You can pick up a lot watching other players, especially the good ones out there.
I guess I'd have to say that I look forward to learning from here in the future and hope that my game will improve from what I learn here.
Thanks for the thought provoking question. Never thought about it before, that's for sure.

For me i still consider myself a rookie.ive only been playing holdem for like a year and half.i would sya ive improved is by not only playing face cards.i start playing cards like connecters or like A2 or high card low card and it turns out good for me.
I also need to work on how much to bet and when to bet.i guess i have to work on being more aggressive.such as like when i have a good hand(Ak or AQ)i wont raise.and ill try to slow play but it just turns out bad for me because i would get the cards but then someone would catch a straight or a flush.So i guess i would say i need to work on being aggressive.

Things that I have improved on
====================
1)Basic strategies, by reading a book suggested to me on this forum (Didn't read the actual book suggested, but a different book by the same author which I could get hold of)
2)Value of patience (or the lack of it, I will give only partial credit for that to this forum)
3)Enjoying the game much more (may sound lame, but is true for me)
Things I plan to improve
================
1)Raising before the flop

improvements

I have improved in many ways. I was a very tight player who only got my money in the pot with AA AK or KK and that's pretty much it. It seemed like a good idea at the time to sit back and wait for perfect hands. I now mix up my game with playing suited connectors that can leave opponents crippled, as well as i have learned more about the effectiveness of position the button is a very good time to pick up some blinds pre or on the flop.
The thing that i need to work on most is definately not going on tilt, if i am in 7 tourneys and i could be playing well in all of them, when i take a very bad beat i snap and begin to not care and just push it all in at the tables and try to coinflip my way to the top but i'm not a lucky person so this strategy never works for me
So that is what i would like to work on the most.

My overall tournament play has seemed to improve drastically. I use to always bust prior to the first break. With a few tips on this site on how to play specific hands and the past experience of others in certain scenarios has help boost my tournament play. This is important to me due to the fact that I'm more interested in tournament play opposed to a ring game. Which leads me to my answer to the second question. My ring game needs some improvement, I usually try to play it like a tournament which i've grown to learn will not work out in the long run. My bankrolls aren't usually high enough to play bigger stakes, so I must learn how to defeat the fish at the small tables, which should come in short time with the helpful people on this forum..
FYI: I'm been browsing your website and forums and it is put together great. Very organized, and helpful. I've just now decided to register after all the wonderful things I've seen on this site.

Before it entered with all the letters practicamente, today I am a player but thinking, changing of attitude as the play is given. What I observe is that I lose many hands with good letters, with AA perdi many hands wagering a lot and they pay me with bad letters. The experience carried me to perfect me each I gave but.
that is toooooo funny. please give him the pw, i have to see him play.

I cant say I have learnt anything from this forum as I have only just joined but my most recent improvement would be my fearlessness. I am no longer worried about how much I could be losing and afraid to make big calls when im pretty sure someone is on a bluff.
I definitely need improvement on my limit game. I have been unable to get a grasp of the different style of play people have a limit table and how a starting hand really means didly squat until the flop is out.

What I have learned

I am SO new, everything about the forum is good. I think it's outstanding that the site sponsors freerolls.
I have most improved, getting the pot without showing cards by proper betting techniques.
I need to work at... Recogizing the RANGE of hands the opponent may have.... For some reason, I have missed seeing possible straight draws, and I need to be more alert for straights especially.
I do plan on making good quality posts, and to be an active member on the boards.
Thanks Again.
