The nuts or nuttin'!
by randy72560 » Sat Nov 26, 2005 3:52 am
I just knew he had nothing (or the nuts), but I heard comments the rest of the tourney. Its been a while since I've been called a fish!
I knew I was making a good call, but they really thought I was a fish! It paid off too. I will say it was the third hand of the tourney a ($25) and I didn't have much of a read. Opinions?

That's a pretty gutsy call at the end, especially considering he could have had some big pair...personally, with the straight+set+flush draw I'd have raised quite a bit on the flop, but I guess this worked out better...

You went in there pretty blind but you did have some valuable information.
#1 he called the preflop raise from SB. -- Right there you can put him on some decent holdings like QJs KQs AQ AK etc. If he had a 9 or a 6 in his hand that would be pretty awfull.
#2 His bet on the turn is pretty suspicious. He hasnt shown any strength in the hand yet and all of a sudden he make a bet for $100 when a 6 hit! Right then I would not believe him, hes betting about 1/4th of the pot when another 6 hits the board? yah right!
The river is pretty much a guessing game. He could be holding a Jack, but if he was and he thought it was good, I dont think he would have bet 300 as this just seems like it would scare anyone away with less than the flush the straight or trip 6's. Once again he is trying to show strength when on the turn I would have read him for weak. Even though you did not have a read on him. He was trying to show too much strength when he didnt show any previously, your instincts just took note of that and allowed you to call.
