The thing that irritated me is that they waited until the river to spring it.

Impossible for either one to get away from their hands, but I do not go as crazy on the river given the boat threat.
If I were Blade_runner, I could see myself raising the flop 'cause I've already got 2 bets in front of me. It's more for value and you can't be thinking "I have to get somebody out" 'cause it's limit and that won't happen.
I agree that a raise on the river would make more sense to "spring the trap", but we know it's already too late.
Aside from the crazy river betting, does anybody play this differently if you flop the nut flush?

Fortunate turn card for our hero. I'm not exactly sure what TIGER is doing cold calling with K3s, but that's his business. Blade Runner was unlucky b/c I would make the same call from the blind with the pot odds and he got caught in a war on the river thanks to TIGER. But our hero came out on top w/ a nice pot thanks to the jackass play of TIGER.
I'd probably lead out on the flop with the nut flush or raise the flop, b/c it's unlikely you'll be able to get much out of other hands on the turn.

If I flop the nut flush, I'll wait til turn to raise with only 2 people in.
If I flop less than nut flush, I play it fast. Nobody folds in limit and you'll get action from A or K singleton.

Well, the door swings both ways - got sucked into a hand in the BB and played it as best I could. I am glad I learned my lesson from before and didn't go nuts on the river.
Conservative play, but I figure it saved me this hand. Still trying to force myself to see that I need to fold these hands. Only reason I played it was because it was suited and after the flop, I had the odds to call. I remember I specifically did not raise the turn because I was trying to CR....worked out in the end I guess.

Damn, I went back to look and saw it's going to make me look like Mr. Know-It-All. If I flop the nut flush in the blinds I'll generally check-raise with it, and occasionally snow it to the turn in late position. The exception to that is when there's two big cards, or two adjacent cards on the flop.
In any case where someone's more likely than usual to hit two pair like that I'll generally bet it out for fear of giving them a free boat. Odds are you'll get reasonable action then anyway, even if they only have the straight draw.

lsutiger Your play on the first hand is pretty good. The only thing I wouldnt have done that you did was raise preflop with AJ from that posistion. Sometimes its a good idea ot raise AJ there but I would say usually not. It worked out though.
The 2nd hand you posted later from K2s in the SB thats a HELLA EASY FOLD. K2s is a HORRID HAND fold fold fold fold fold fold fold!

I been doing some reading and some people suggest playing any suited from the blinds or Kx - now obviously this is controversial and I have been working on getting my hands played down. Seems to be two schools of thought on this - blind protection and stack protection.
I think i am too aggressive in protecting my blinds, but I also don't want people to walk all over me. Still something I am looking at...Poker Tracker is great to help look at this..my blind play is not so good.
As far as AJ goes, I raise sometimes, although usually not in that early position. I raised at this table because the few tight people would raise me with AQ or higher, so I get a good barometer on what people are holding. I agree this isn't a place to usually raise - this one was table dependant.
