If anyone ever deserved to hang, it is this guy...
but you are correct, it will unleash further the "dogs of war".

Nope, not a good idea folks... Was it even possible for him to have a fair trial.. I think we should let him have his fucked up country back. I have several friends over there and I want them home! You can't save people who don't want to be saved.. Things were much better when Iraq had a "Daddy".. We've created more reasons for these religious nuts to hate us..
I don't care if every one there burns, but I don't think it's worth a single American life..

I think anyone that believes this guy shouldn't be put to death and put back in power is crazy. Every evil thing a person could do this guy has done. From mutilation and torture all the way to mass genocide. Keeping this guy alive is a liability in it of itself.
Appeasing the minority (fundamentalists) is not the right approach. The majority of Iraqi's just want to live their lives in peace and would love to see this guy hang. Don't yall remember the thousands upon thousands of soldiers that surrendered without a fight at the sight of American troops during GW1? That should say something about living under saddam.

It's not up to us any more. If we step in now it would be far worse than any martyrdom of Saddam, which I find unlikely anyway, it would be the imperialistic US meddling in Iraqi/Muslim affairs again.

Meh.
At least they didn't crucify him ala Roman empire.
My first reaction was "hanging? wtf? they haven't done that since like 1860". I figured if I ever voiced that opinion I'd hear the same "omg he deserves it blah blah blah" + other closed minded conservative crap I always hear when you're correct about something.
Seriously though, hanging? How barbaric.

If im correct it is the Iraqi's themselves that chose this particular way for him to die. Personally i could care less if they left him alone in a square surrounded by the relatives of the millions of people he murdered.

I was half joking, but I do think we (the US) was better off with him in power... The people of Iraq may not have been, but the US has plenty of their own problems.. And we created another one when we invaded that country...

I'm pro-death penalty (with major revisions because it's currently broken in the US in bad ways) but I would envision to someone like Saddam, a life behind bars is far greater punishment than a rope.
Keeping him confined to a small room for the rest of his life when he's used to living in exquisite luxury and comfort is going to make him go crazy on it's own.
I don't think the penalty is handed down from the US, because many muslim countries still have pretty harsh penalities for disobeying the law (think stoning for cheating). Killing Saddam I think it kinda shows the level of short-sightedness that still prevails over there and the bigger picture of why it's been near impossible to get everyone to think beyond what is in front of them.
