This is tough. This is probably the second best flop you could have asked for. The only thing you're beating right now that he could reraise with preflop is AK.
Normally, if I have a read on a player that he makes weak c-bets, then I'd typically check and let him fire and raise back. Here we don't have the luxury of reads. I'm so tempted to say check and see how much he bets, although this seems very weak itself.
I imagine the best play would be to bet about $20 (the pot is about $25). Depending on what he does (raise or call), I'd have more info on what to do next.

Perfect.
Fold. You're pretty much going to have to give this person credit for a hand better than yours based on the play up to this point. Again, the only hand you're beating is AK. Can he play 55-99 this way? Since we don't have reads, this seems to be a clear fold. Thoughts anyone?

Yeah, I folded. Reason for the post: I would play the way he did with the standard plus AK--AJ, which is much more likely than JJ--AA. Just wondered if anyone saw something wrong with it.
Later on he turned out to be a rock, but let's not be results oriented....

i think this hand is fine. what i usually do in this spot is very dependant on reads, but sometimes you don't have one. i'd either bet-fold or check-call and fold to a second barrel. bet-fold is slightly better since you don't give free cards, but i think it's slightly transparent to solid villains.
if I was villain in this hand, and you played it the way you did, i'd put you on a low PP. i usually don't try to move people off them (i'd just fold AK), but sometimes I'll raise the donk bet. also, if i've got a big pair i almost never raise. So if villain just calls in the hand, you don't gain much information, but he probably has a decent idea what you have.
i'm not saying i'd play it any differently. i guess i'm just explaining the obvious of why it's a tough spot.

I think his range is even wider than this. I'd pretty much make his play with any hand I 3-bet with preflop. I wouldn't mind shoving here or a c/r.

I personally check/raise and then give up if it doesn't win the pot.

Yes, I was seriously considering a c-r. But it requires a greater amount of money as opposed to leading, and I had no earlier reads that he would 3bet hands weaker than TT preflop.
