i'm in the college of engineering but my major is computer science, so i had to take physics etc. through thermodynamics and quantum, but F no am I taking quantum... i instead took severe and hazardous weather which was a lot cooler cuz i learned a helluva lot about hurricanes last semester

No. That's the difference between quantum and classical. Picture a nucleus with an electron orbiting around it. In classical mechanics, the electron would slowly lose energy and crash into the nucleus. Well, it doesn't. It doesn't lose energy because according to quantum mechanics it can move around in the same energy level. Kinda along those same lines is why there is no energy loss in the other example
This is a "loose" example, so the explanation isn't exactly correct, but its in the same ball park.
