PT and PostgreSQL

Anybody convert their PT database to PostgreSQL? Was it hard? Was it worth it? Pluses and minuses?
I think the ultimate reason is my PC sucks, but when I play poker, my PC sloooooows waaaaaaay down. And I can only think it's PT. Will switching to PostgreSQL database help any with the slow down? I can't run iTunes when I'm playing poker. I used to even get a virual memory error every once in a while. But not lately as I just make sure not much is running. I think the answer is more RAM or a new PC, but I just bought a laptop. So no new PC for me for a while. Maybe more RAM. I'll have to see about cost. I highly doubt I can get something like AIM going when I play poker and I'd like to so people can see me play and offer tips.
Anyway, I only have about 20 - 25k hands or so. I compact my database and hand histories often. I have my hand histories go to an 'old' folder so PT doesn't try to bring them in every time. Is there something else I can do to speed things up? I'll have to check out the PT forum, but I'd thought I see what you guys have to say as well.

It is very worth it. In fact I can't think of a single reason not to do it. The conversion itself should not take too long, maybe half an hour to an hour tops if your computer isn't a complete dinosaur with only 25-30K hands.

This will walk you through the process step by step. Also in that forum you'll find most of the problems that can happen have already been talked about and solutions discovered. So the search tool should help you out in that regard. Also feel free to ask here if you run into problems too, I've done it and I think a few others have as well.

Thanks, Mew. I figure I'll do it eventually. Just need to block out some time on a Saturday.

Postgresql is certainly the faster than Access, but I'm not sure it has a smaller memory footprint. Given that he's already out of memory it might be just as much of a dog.

Yeah...I think that's more of the issue...see this thread. Gonna get more RAM first, then switch.
