Wow, tough hand to get away from. You COULD have folded it after he re-raised you post flop because he might have had the straight. But because its not likely I would have went broke their too.
You both should have raised preflop and then you might have been commited to the pot after your postflop raise.

Thats the thing that sucks about this hand most. I don't think that you can learn anything from that experience. But the good news is that you probibly won't be in that situation again for away.
