Defending the BB

Edit: Bad example, obviously this isn't a steal attempt. Same guy, except he just called. Still welcome comments on the play from Flop forward.
This guy has been pushing me around all night. I'm very comfortable folding a mediocr blind (sm or big) but when someone senses it as weakness I feel I need to push back at least ocassionally on to protect myself.
Here is an example. Is the push back correct, and then look at subsequent play and coment if you will.

Several hands later from previous post. Excepting a $300 play at a pot the failed, the blinds account for the chip difference.
This guy has been showing down trash all night. My play placed me one out of the money. Feeling pretty stupid for not being able to get off the J's. What would you have done?

1st hand- I don't like the preflop raise. Your hand isn't very strong so just check and see a flop. Your flop play is fine but you might as well just push the turn.
2nd hand- Just push preflop. Everyone has less than 10BB's and you aren't going to fold to a reraise.

Thank you for the comment Bob.
I killed the $50x6 this week-end. Out of 9 5 1sts, 1 2nd, and 3 OTM.
Small sampling I know but I figured I was catching on. So far M-W (today) I've finished out of the money every time (6 games).
I don't know if I'm getting cocky, sloppy. . . Definently tougher players during the week. On the week-end, I was ITM by the time the blinds hit 50/100 most of the time. During the week, I'm at 100/200 with 5 players still swapping leads. Often not even a significant underdog.
Every time I think I'm coming around I get stupid, or unlucky and it knocks the wind out of me.
Stupidity I'm working on, by the unlucky part is still taking the wind out of my sails. This week I've went All-In preflop (blinds 150+) with QQ, KK (twice) only to run into AA's that killed me.

I am gonna echo pretty much what bob said.
As for running into AA on the bubble, it happens. I had JJ and QQ go down in flames to AA on the bubble yesterday. Call it Variance. Call it bad luck. Call it whatever you want. I have also had AA beaten by a Set to knock me out on the bubble.
The best you can hope for on the bubble is get your money in with your good hands and hope the cards play out.

What type of tournament is this? $50+4?
The second hand is a definite push all in with JJ and there's nothing you can do about the outcome, except try to river your set next time
.
A man wiser than myself once said, "don't be too result oriented". All of us would agree that once the money goes in and you have the best hand, the community cards will decide your fate, but take comfort in the fact that you had the best hand going in. Then punch a wall and curse and ask yourself why the fuck does this bullshit always happen to you.

Pacific Poker has several 5/6 player games ranging from 15 - 100 plus a rake (8 - 10%).
They all pay 3 positions. Major difference is that on the 5 play game, you are in the money after two folks are out, but 3rd place pays your buy-in minus the rake for a net loss of the rake. The 6 player games 3rd place pays buy-in + rake + a few bucks for a marginal net profit.
For me I am able to play a more stable game on the $50 tables than on the $30 and below. My recent bad streak of 6 straight finishes out of the money are making me re-think this level, but on the whole I finish better in the $50 than below.
A good player would kill these games.
