Bad push late??
by zardnok » Wed Jan 11, 2006 4:20 am
13 people left of a 45 person MTT. Vanoman has been SuperTight/aggressive the whole tourney with only 7% played. He opened things up when the blinds hit 100/200 and shirfted into a hyper aggressive-maniac mode. He has raised big the past two hands and stolen the blinds both times. My first impulse was he was stealing blinds again and made a larger than normal bet to insure it worked.

After that big raise you know he isnt going to shy away from the hand. At best he has two overs to your TT. So you gotta ask your self do you want to risk your tournament life on a coinflip? I think the obvious answer is no, so go ahead and fold this. If you were the aggressor it would be a different situation.

I sat here and shook my head at my stupidity for a good 5 minutes after this hand. I knew it was a stupid move. I did it anyways. Perhaps I posted here looking for some validity for my idiocy; someone to say "You had to make a move and 10-10 was a good hand to do it with", even though I know that a supertight player is only going to throw this sort of weight around with monster hands.
If only I could save my bankroll from my own stupidity sometimes!!

Eh, I'd go all-in or call and make a stop and go given the information that he had raised like three pots in a row. Against 77+, AJs+, KQs, AQo+ you're about 50%, and that's only about 6% of all hands.

Take solace in the fact that you are NOT alone. My BR would be tripple the size it is today if I could just prevent 10% of my stupid brainfart mistakes.
As for this play....you already know it. It's a coinflip at best, and you have plenty of chips to wait for a better spot.
