If you're talking really getting into it, I'm a late bloomer....38 or 39. Of course, played 5CD when I was a kid, but that doesn't count.

If you mean any form of poker: I was actually playing for chips at 5. My grandfather taught me 5cd, 5cs, and 7cs, in that order, and I am counting it!

If you just mean Texas Hold'em: January, 2000. I was 25.

Back when I first started, I used a book written by Hellmuth as my guide for making decisions.

Same here......actually, the book is pretty good advice for the beginner. I would probably recommend it to someone just starting out wanting to play cash games.
