Hi guys,
I am playing poker since about 15 years. Seriously since 2,5 years (about 40 hrs per week). I played a lot Limit and SitnGo not witch too much success, though. I read lots of books and try to take the best of all of them and dont make one to my bible.
2 Weeks ago, I started to play NL ring games. Limit 50C/1$. Singe Table. That seems to suit me more since I won a bit of money (about 1.500$) there. I feel that I have a slight edge through my tight aggressive play. I make a lot of contunioation bets and also steal from time to time. I am able to switch gaers and I am watching my oponents closely.
That seems all good, but sometimes I see players at my table which just seem to make the perfect move at the perfect time. I recognise the moves, but I cant really defend and I seem to have problems to make this bold steals and reraises at the right time.
I probably need some advice to get over that barrier. What have you done to get further? Are there any tips you can give me (which are more than "watch yout oponents" and "change gears".
Also: What is about online coatching?
I live in New Zealand. If anyone comes from there (Nelson or South Island anyway), it would be cool to meet and discuss from time to time. I feel that I ahve to discuss advanced theories with strong players to get the right learning curve.
Cheers
Michael

Welcome to the forum!
Your questions are kinda broad based. It would be more helpful for you if you posted specific hands in the correct section...Limit, NL, etc. Then you can get feedback about specific questions.
There's a lot of great people on the forum and we're all willing to help....hope you stick around!

Hi and welcome.
I would have to echo Snickers' advice. You should post specific hands on the forum and get other people's input. Also, remember that as you move up, the level of competition gets better, and players will occasionally outplay you. Often times there is not much you can do.

Hey mate. I'm a dirty Aussie...or should that be you're a dirty Kiwi?
Anyway, welcome, and please post some specific hands with all relevant information for a more pertinent and meaningful discussion.

It was more of a generic question what you guys did to become better. I dint have any poker mates here in Nelson, which makes it harder.
Whats about online coatching? Any experiences?

I was coached for a little bit, and it helped a lot. However, I think that I got a fairly good deal price wise. Many coaches that I know charge too much for the beginning poker player.
As far as what it takes to take it to the next level, in my experience, it's just play time. keep gaining experience, review your play, talk with others about specific things on a forum, and just slowly grow. I think that players can make fairly rapid improvements early on in their careers as they have "Eureka!" moments. As you develop more, I think those moments get farther and farther apart as you start to become truly challenged by the game.

Online Coatching
by michael_xxiii » Wed May 02, 2007 7:04 pm
Thanks for the Feedback
I guess I am already fairly advanced. I played a couple of hundret thousand hands online and countless offline. I take poker VERY serious and I am determined to make a living out of it.
I heard a lot good stuff about online coatching and coatching videos. Could you tell me a few recources?

How did you go about finding a coach? And at what point did you go "I definitely need a coach. I can't figure out what to do based on my own experiences or reading poker articles/books."?
