Bubble play with loose aggressive table
by zardnok » Mon Jan 02, 2006 1:38 am
I have been sitting at tables lately that are incredibly loose and aggressive calling stations. If I bet, they call and if I do not bet, they do. I am having trouble opening up my playstyle to accumulate chips late with no fold equity. My standard style is relatively tight, but relatively tight doesn't do me much good when I get blinded away. I have tried merely pushing all-in on these folks, trying to represent serious strength, but I get called with hands as weak as Q-9 off suit.
For what it is worth, I have taken 2nd in 80% of my recent tourney's and 1st in another with only one 4th place OOMoney finish. I know there is some thing I can do to accumulate chips and put myself over the hump. Any tips for accumulating chips when you know everyone will be calling you down??

Where are you playing that this is happening? I have been playing the $22's at Party recently, and people are usually tight as shit on the bubble. Of course, I exploit this by pushing 2-4o when the situation demands.
The best way to deal with these LAGs is to pay attention to what they are raising/calling with. I don't avovate manaical calling, but manical pushing... I like that. You may need to work on your Bubble and ITM play. Sounds like you are not pushing enough hands in the right situation. There are situations that arise when you should push ANY 2 cards, and Q9o definitely fits that mold. You could be getting called down because maybe you aren't pushing with enough chips? When you have <10BB, any raise you make preflop should be a all-in push. Also, if you are in the SB, and it is folded to you, and you or the BB have less than 10BB in your stack, you can often push there.
If they are calling you down with crap, push your A/x hands K/x, obviously any PP. Let them call you with Q/x, J/x, or rags.
Edit: I just realized this was in the Limit section. Someone move this to the STT forum?
