Standard deviation vs table size

How much higher is your standard deviation at six max tables as opposed to full tables. I ask because mine's 8 BB/100 higher, which is an appreciable amount. I honestly can't tell if I'm winning or losing so far, though -7.02 BB/100 over 687 hands certainly doesn't look encouraging.
On the other hand, I seem to have made alot of Skalansky Dollars, but I'd prefer real dollars.
Before anyone asks, I'm willing to chaulk a subsantial amount of the loss up to bad beats, since I have a handfull of doozies. I just want to know how much I'm swinging compared to other people.
Well, that and I'd like to eventually be profitable with full houses, but that's a long term project. Grrr.

You need to email Sklansky and ask for an exchange.
I can't help you too much (sorry), but 687 hands isn't much. While any loss is discouraging, just make sure you are playing good poker for that table.
6-max is a different beast - are you folding too much to raises? Most of the time people play looser and you can't give them as much credit for hands as you would at a full table. Are you being aggressive with TPWK or mid-pair? Read-dependent, but those can pay off at 6-max tables, too.
If your big losses are boat-over-boat as you suggest, then you'll turn it around soon.

No, it isn't many hands, but variance is a pretty rapidly converging stat so I can get an idea of exactly how much more most people experience at the smaller tables.
Apart from showdown percentage, I'm reasonably happy with my play, though I'll be honest enough to admit finding a couple leaks I ought to plug. That, and slightly altering my starting hands will help. There's a couple places I can swap out ones that have a higher value in a six handed deal with some that play better in a ten handed one.

6 handed poker will have larger variance since you are playing more hands/a rotation. In a 10 handed game you can generally just play your cards how they are delt to you and nothing more. I think 6 max depends more on reading your table and taking control of your opponents weakness than just playing the cards that are delt to you. Like Velar said people are more aggressive at 6 max tables so take advantage of this and make them pay you off everytime you have a hand.
Dont be afraid to make a river bet if you feel you had the best hand the whole time, thats a big mistake players make is checking the river in fear of the other person making a flush or a straight or something like that. Once again dont unjustify your reads though, if you notice this person only stays in with TP / nut draws and the draw hits on the river you can check it down.
Your read on the table is so important at a 6 max table, you have to be able to "teach" your table how to bet so you can make them bet into you when you have made hands and check it to you when you have draws. It doesnt always work our this way but when you can make your table do this your profits will sky rocket.

But the question is how much more? I know that I've experienced 2.4 times as much variance so far, but that's a relatively useless stat by itself. Perhaps most people are seeing seven times as much and I'm swinging alot less. Or maybe most people have .75 as much and I'm playing like a relative wildman.
Really, the ratio of variance between six max and a full table is what I was after, but more people have standard deviation close at hand than variance, so it seemed a safer and simpler question.

Yah im not quite sure on that statistic caffiend. I think that would vary quite a bit but I would expect the variance to be somewhere in the nature of 1.5-2x as much. 2.4x as much doesnt seem to far out there but like I said I'm not quite sure.
