EDIT: I missed a critical part of this hand.
I think your opponent could have any combination of one pair and a flush draw or something like J9 without a flush draw.
Still, I think the chances that you'll run into three nines or three jacks is remote, and you are ahead of his range, which is huge, so you must call.

I'm fairly certain you have to call, as I don't think you can lay a set down here.
Hands that I can possibly put villain on that you're beating:
:9c:
:9c:
:Tc:
I don't know if I'm giving this guy too much credit, but honestly, I can't see him having a weaker hand than those I mentioned. If he has anyone of those hands, I like his play here and would be inclined to make a similar play myself.
If he shows you a bigger set, well there's not much you can do.
P.S. If I'm right about his hand, then I'm a god. If I'm wrong, well I am a bit rusty you know.

If you put him on a bluff on the flop, what changed your mind when the
hit? No, seriously...what were you thinking when you saw the jack (I don't have much NL experience and am trying to learn before hitting the Falls in March)? With my limited experience, I call and hope to not see a higher set.

What? It's live, against an aggro asian, and you have a set. Instacall. NH 44.

I call this pretty fast. His stack to pot ratio is slim anyways, so even with TP like AJ he is required to push here. The only thing that makes me a little worried is the 30 second pause, since a bluffing hand probably attacks back somewhat fast. That said, he could really ponder a Jack or a hand like TT here just as long, so it's not a big deal.

You mean except for the -$430?
I doubt he's sweating the $430
