Job interview in one hour!
by crunny » Wed Feb 14, 2007 5:53 pm
Hey guys,
I have a job interview in one hour for an accountancy position with a local firm.
Starting to feel the nerves so I am trying to occupy myself by playing a bit of poker.
Anyway, wish me luck!
I'll let you know how things go.
Cheers.

Thx guys!
The interview went quite well. I didn't get asked any of the common interview type questions such as "tell us about yourself", "what are your strengths/weaknesses?". Rather, he asked me about my university results and then preceded to explain what the job entailed (he did most of the talking).
His daughter was in the same high school year as me, so I got bonus points for that!
However, when I mentioned poker as one of my interests things went a little bad. "Poker!! thats not a good thing" he said. I then had to spend the next 10 minutes trying to explain that it wasn't gambling and that intelligent/analytical people can do quite well.
There is only me and another chick in the running for the position so I have a decent chance of landing the job.
The pay is horrible though, $26,500 AUD *gag*. This is the only thing I've got going for me at the moment so if he asks i will have to accept, even though i don't want to, lol.
Thx for listening

Yeah, I would have stayed away from that topic until you got to know him better.. Some people just are not that bright and very closed minded.. Regardless of the position they hold..
