Interesting live hand
by mousey » Mon Jan 22, 2007 2:56 pm
Although I wasn't in this hand and my friend was, I have been thinking about this hand all day so here it goes,
This is at a 3-5 NL table, min buy in 100, max 300.
Hero is on the Button - 1 position ( full 9 table ), 1 limper, and then a min raise, 1 caller, hero has KJs and calls, SB folds, BB calls, and EP limper calls.
About $50+.
Hero flops a King high flush, Qc 4c 8c, Sb Checks, BB makes a 20$ bet, limper calls, and original min raiser pushes all in for ~100$, the mp caller also goes in and now its Hero's action ....
Hero ??????????????????????????????????
Not many reads other than the fact the all players are semi loose...

effective stacks are very important here.
also, there's pretty much 0% chance i'm folding unless you're really deep or have so very good reads. people go nuts with big flush draws, TPTK, and sets that you're almost always ahead here. i'd probably have to be at least 200 bb's deep to even consider folding.

From what I remember, hero has 200$ the mp moved all in for a good 140+$ remaining and the caller has 400$+, and the two who have yet to act each have about 150$...
Basically, it was Hero's whole stack with some of the villains still having chips afterwards

Call all day.
If someone has Ax of clubs then so be it, but only the original raiser worries us, and pushing all in with a made Ax flush is not likely. Worst case is he has AQ with the Ac.
You are squeezing the BB and the limper, neither of them will call without the Ac, which they likely don't have. But even if they do, fine, just so long as the board doesn't pair.
Frankly it's just extremely unlikely that someone 'else' flopped a flush, much less a higher one. If you fold you are losing too much value.
I feel however that your friend told you this story because he lost to a flopped A high flush.

I will tell you the outcome after the discussion has died... I witnessed this hand live as I was on the button and folded preflop...
Also note: What if he had the Jc instead of the Kc ? Still an insta call ?

That doesn't change anything for me. I don't fold even a baby flush, I doubt we're up against a made flush. If we are and we get coolered, that's not going to upset me too much. I have been coolered in this manner before and I have caught some the other way around, but usually we're up against a set and a donk with TP high spade kicker, etc.

Insta-call. If he is even considering folding on this flop, then why did he limp???? Like Mirage said, one hand is most likely a set and another is TPTK with Ac or AA/KK (most likely with one club).
Of course, a minraise is typical for AKs, but putting him on AKs is like putting someone on quads when you hit the nut boat.

No way should you ever fold the second nuts here.
On another note, what's with the 60bb buyin cap?

Pushbot poker, yay
I'd rather have 1/2 NL with a max buy-in of 300 or 400, give me deepstack all day.
The fact that the stacks are so small compared to the blinds make the call in the OP even more automatic.
