If we raise, get called, and don't hit on the flop are we pushing?
Are we also pushing if we are last to act and get bet into (post-flop)?

Open push because you won't invest half your stack to fold to a bluffer when an A or K doesn't hit. If I saw someone call a reraise without pushing I know they don't have JJ+ and I am definately pushing any two cards if an A or K does NOT hit. If it does hit I can back out. You give too much advantage to the reraiser by not pushing preflop.
If they have KK or AA you were trapped anyways... Don't fear 2/13 reraising hands.

You betting 1/3rd your stack and then pushing? What if the big stack comes over the top and they are not in the blinds? I bet 1/4th my stack here and fold if I see that big stack come over the top: ie: asheygirl or notsmazz

Huh? 500/2000 = 1/4. I'm raising because I'd like some value from the hand. Open pushing is a valid option but not as many worse hands are calling as when you just raise. I guess it depends on your image.

Echoing the question. Always a spot that gives me trouble.

ez open push, you wont hit the flop most of the time, and a raise +cbet will cost you almost half your stack, just shove and let them call with all sorts of random shit.

Pushing is by far the easiest and it's certainly +ev. However, something that just recently came up in my studies is getting more value from a strong hand. We have almost 14BBs. This may apply more to high levels but we would like to have someone else go for a resteal w/ AQ AJ etc. The obvious problems are we don't want to have someone repush w/ a pair and if we get flat called it gets tricky.
Bottomline is I do usually push this but I'm trying to see if there is a better option.
