RAZZ Question
by momowheeler » Mon Oct 23, 2006 11:37 am
Ok so I'm trying to pick up RAZZ so I can start participating int he HORSE events at PS.
I get the idea of the game, obviously, lowest hand wins. What I need verification on though is what can be assumed to be a stupid-stupid question; but I need to verify my idiocy
What hand wins below?
A,2,6,7,9
vs.
A,3,4,5,6
????
If it is what I think it is (A,2,6,7,9), then anytime I have A2 I should be going to a showdown, right? .... even if it's something like A,2,8,T,K?

When trying to determine which low is best, you're supposed to start from the "highest" low card. Therefore, 6 low beats 9 low easily from the first card.
You can't possibly take a hand like KT82A to showdown unless the other person is showing a double pair of something. Everything beats you when your low starts at the King!!!!

WOW, I'm in a world of hurtin'
So, using the previous examples:
A,2,6,7,9
vs.
A,3,4,5,6
A,3,4,5,6 is the winner?
-------------------------------------
If so, let me try this again:
3,4,6,8,9
vs.
A,2,7,9,J
...... 3,4,6,8,9 wins?
Thanx for the help btw

Thats a great thing! My entire online poker philosophy/strategy is built around atrocious play
.... a convenient side effect of being a low-limit-life'r

I love HORSE. You need to be a good 'poker' player to win at these games. The first time you play you're like "stud hi/lo? Okay, I know all the poker principles I need to know, I am already ahead of the rest of the table."
You could make up a game and be better at it than most of the people who play poker. You just have to know the fundamentals.

I tried a $3 last night; took 3rd place. I was dominating the game (6.5k) until I made 2 bad decisions (2 hands) in a row during Omaha. I caught onto the RAZZ instantly and had no trouble establishing aggressivness.
Thanx for the help guys
