What's my play?
by poormanbilly » Mon Sep 25, 2006 1:25 am
Seriously, I'm lost in space here... Villian is a huge maniac. Plays ANYTHING and everything like the nuts. He fears me though because he has only seen me turn over the nuts and I can tell he doesn't like playing against me.

I personally think a preflop raise is in order. You have a suited A, 2 broadway cards, and low counterfeit protection.
I like the flop raise.
On the turn, I'd check through. Villain likes his hand as he calls a big raise.

No, he'll give you either good or terrible odds to draw. For example, 2h 3h Ks Ac is light years ahead on the turn. In fact, most any piece of the flop with a live low draw is bad news. As Biggle pointed out, it's unlikely that he totally wiffed, given the original call.
A check will win you the entire pot if a high diamond comes. A bet will lose you the entire pot if he check-raises you, since you're a significant dog to any two-way hand and should fold.
As an added benefit, a check and a small diamond will give you reason to look him up if he's stupidly playing a set or something. In which case you'll end up scooping him again.

eek, 7 backup is terrible. Also, reraising from EP with this hand is absolutely asking for trouble. IMO, only if the 7 were instead a 3, 4 or 5, then I'd be far more comfortable with this hand. Also, you'd rather more people in the hand and reraising eliminates that possibility.
Flop raise?????????????????? Are you insane Man? You need the wheel card backup here to pull this one off. If you're 7 were instead any third wheel card, then I love the flop raise. Otherwise, you're spewing. If I'm first to act, then I bet this flop to juice the pot a little, in the event that I hit my flush.
If I have the three wheel cards, then I bet the pot on the turn. You'd have a lot of outs (even if he calls and you split by only making a low, you would be more than compensated for the times you scoop him).
Having said all this, I check behind on the turn, don't outplay yourself and get c/r on the turn with only a flush draw and end up getting scroogied. Also, villain is probably on a weaker flush draw with some kind of weak low draw, probably 34.

I agree a check is probably the way to go. You have position so don't get greedy, just wait and see what the river brings. If you get check raised, do you really want to put all your money in with a pair of As.

It hasn't been proven, but signs point to yes.

That's the problem, the maniac is loose and could easily show you ANYTHING. You have to be on the defensive against him.

Fuck, I always thought you were supposed to out-maniac the maniac. I've been playing this shit wrong the whole fudging time!

Anyhow... I bet something like 2/3 or a little less and he folded. *shrug* Checking is the correct play and what I should have done, but for some reason my mouse wouldn't leave the raise button.

What does that say about our O8 skillzorz...
Haha... I was just trying to humor those chumps. Of course what you and I would do is correct.
