Middle East conflict...

Post your thoughts.
The politics/history behind it all makes it confusing to understand.
I was in the USMC. I understand the IDF stance. I feel for the Lebanese Govt. and citizens. Hezbollah...honestly I don't understand. I can only relate them to the IRA.

Very sad fucking thought, but it doesn't appear to be too far off does it?
This is what the fuck I'm talking about. WWIII, nuclear weapons and weapons that we have never even seen or heard about it (they have some crazy shit, trust me) and people are acting like it's no big deal or that America/Israel has the right to use them.
I don't give a fuck what anybody says to me, no matter what, America had no right to drop those bombs on Hiroshima/Nagasaki. Nobody can justify it, period. As a matter of fact, no fucking country has the right to drop WMDs on any other country. What the fuck kind of world do we live in when people get off on this shit??????????????? The only people who are really suffering are innocent children, women and men. You're not punishing anybody else.
goddamn the shit pisses me off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Come on Merv! It was a war for god's sake. And in that war the Japanese were the enemy. I agree with staying out of war as much as possible, but once you are in it the only option is winning.
The allies had already won. In fact, history buffs would know that Japan lost the war much sooner. Everyone knew it. The bombs were needless carnage.

Fine then drop a bomb designed to inflict death and suffering on the very people who want the war. Leave the innocent civilians alone. Just like now.

In regards to the use of nukes, I would agree with Merv.
Let me put it this way. Let's say that, during WWII, the U.S. had sent an overwhelming military force into Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and mercilessly slaughtered everyone there -- men, women, children -- both military and civillian alike. They slaughtered these people regardless of whether or not they offered up resistance, regardless of whether or not they actually supported their army's actions or not.
Would we defend such an action? Of course not. The image of soldiers wontonly killing defenseless babies, of soldiers mercilessly shooting teenaged girls...we'd never accept that.
But, turn around and do EXACTLY THE SAME DAMN THING by dropping a nuke on them, and suddenly, "HEY, ITS OKAY!"
I cannot agree; it is blatant hypocrisy. A military decision to deliberately kill civillians is the same REGARDLESS of whether it is carried out by individual soldiers on the ground, or by dropping a nuke on them from far away.
"It was war" Yes, it was. And terrible shit happens during war. And yes, the ultimate goal of war is to win. But had the U.S. defeated Japan by committing the VERY SAME SLAUGHTER of Japanese people, doing it hand-to-hand instead of with nukes, would ANYONE today be defending such an action? I'd like to think the answer is no.

considering the huge loses to the Allies when trying to take over small islands from the Japanese and the complete lack of a sign that the Japanese were willing to surrender I think there is an argument for the dropping of the Nuclear bombs in 1945.
The Japanese didn't believe in surrender, hence why they exectuted allied Prisioners of War when captured.
Did you know that Japan is trying to overturn their constitution to allow it to have a proper army again instead of the current Self Defence Force. Also I don't think the majority of this Japanese generation have been educated about what happened in WWII.

Gee, now that we've partially debated the ever so fun topic of geopolitical stability as it relates to armed conflict, let's move onto something less provacative, like say, religion.
Oh wait, that may not be a change of topic after all.
