Playing HORSE

Well, I finally won my first HORSE tourney at full tilt. It was just a $5, but it felt really good. It took me four tries before I finally won anything. Now that I won one, I think I'll give it up for now.
I just don't think I like HI/LO games. I want clear winners and loser at my table, no of that split pot bullshit! This isn't the special olympics, it POKER!

I had someone say goodbye to me in the chat window of a stud high-low tournament when I got all-in on fifth street. Until I turned over an ace high flush with a rough six on the river to scoop the guy who was jamming the pot with me with his seven. Whoops.
Seriously, I think I won maybe four or five hands to hit the final table out of 2,400 people or so. That scoop, a couple other ones, and one hand full of morons where I got to play rolled up kings five handed against four shitty low hands. Putting in 1/5th of the pot to win 1/2 ain't too bad.
I'll grant you that split pot games are weird, but they do have two things going for them. First, it's worth more to scoop one pot than win two seperate halves. If you understand how much more profitable scooping is than splitting, you've a leg up on anyone who doesn't. Second, you're often in freerolls with someone too stubborn to surrender even if you have half the pot locked up. You don't get those kinds of odds often in other games.
