I think they release $10 for every 1000 crowns or something like that and if your not playing 5/10 or above it will definitly take awhile because at a 1/2 level your only getting 1 or 2 crowns a hand.

unless they changed it, it's $10 for 500 crowns, and u can get up to 8 crowns per hand. It all depends on the level, and the amount of rake on the hand.

just started at noble - clearing a $180 bonus - i played 2 tables nl 50 (the site has so little traffic at nightime australian time) for about 2 hours and cleared 250 crowns (or $5 of the bonus)
