My STT milestone - 8 in a row
by scotty1139 » Fri Dec 09, 2005 5:31 am
Holy Frijoles... I'm on the heater from heaven. I finally got busted out of my 17th tourney tonight, after winning the last 8 in a row, completely crushing my previous personal record of 5 in a row. In total, I won 10/17, and finished 2nd in 2 others, so 12/17. Many were cut down in the blazing warpath that was fishinghooks. I prolly could've won the 9th in a row, had I not donked off my chips with JJ. I suppose that was only fitting.
Let's do the math:
$33 x 17 = $561
$150 x 10 = $1500
$90 x 2 = $180
$1680 - $561 = $1119. This was a bit over 3 hours, so that's something ridiculous like $350/hr. I guess that means I'm getting the hang of this game, huh?
But wait, there's more! I also won $180 from 2 tabling $2/4 and $64 from a raucous game of $3/6. Total one day profit of $1373. Yowza. Personal record indeed! For a guy that has never had a big MTT final table finish, that's a sick amount of cash for a half day's work.
My reactions went something like this:
After winning the 4th in a row, I was like "cool, I'm kicking ass. Lemme check that ROI."
After winning the 5th, "Yes! He shoots, he scores! Pwned, bitches!"
After winning the 6th, "Goddamn, I'm the man. New personal record!"
After winning the 7th, I started to get freaked out, 'cause I thought perhaps I was due to get a horrific run of beats. Nope.... #7 was a whirlwind of destruction, I took out pretty much the whole table in record time. I'd have to check the HH, but I'm guesstimating 29 minutes.
After sucking out my way to victory in the 8th, I started running around the house, waking up my roommate in the process, and jumping up and down... y'know, generally acting like a complete monkey on crack. "I'm unstoppable, you silly rabbits! Just hand me your money right now!"
At 1:13 am PST, my streak came to an end. Ok, so apparently I'm not invincible.... bummer. In addition to setting $$ personal records, I also pissed off a record # of weak-tighty-whiteys. I didn't have time to chatter, as I was 4-5 tabling nearly the whole time. They just don't understand what a super strong powerhouse JTs is.... oh well... PWNED! Is it just me, or does the flood of whiners make the money you earned that much sweeter?

Congrats man!
That's a VERY respectable hourly wage. Of course, you realize you are only feeling the good effects of totally undeserved variance, right?
(j/k)
This makes you look a good choice of SnG tutor. Might even wanna give it a go myself.

crazy
really nice
the odds of placing 1st in a row in so many are really low
i think Noble poker used to have some kind of promotion/deal where if you win a certain amount in a row you get $1 mill
i dont want to lie but yeah
pretty impressive
i once won 4 in the quad shootout at party but was about it

Where else but Party Poker? Looking back at my big STT wins, it seems Thursday night has always been really good for me. My previous record of 5, set about 1.5 years ago, was also on a Thursday. Coincidence? You decide.

If my limit poker game was even 1/8 the skill of my tourney game, I would probably be doing very well. Unfortunately, I'm still a break even player. But I'll save that discussion for the limit poker section. This month is supposed to be my month of training at limit, but I find myself drifting back to tourneys to ease the pain of slowly bleeding off big bets. Shame. Shame on me.

Nice Scotty! Did I read that correctly? 8 first places in a row??? Damn, man - you crushed my personal best of six firsts in a row.
The probability of that is just sick. Let's assume you take first 14% of all tournaments you play. The probability of placing eight firsts consecutively is 0.14^8 = 0.0000001478 or about one in 6.66 million.
Not to put a touch of reality back onto the situation, but that's something I wouldn't bank on happening again for quite some time.

Yah ur crazy scotty! I think I need to take some lessons
. The best I have done is two in a row, but I have cashed 4 in a row. I dont think I play enough STT's, my money is always moving around the internet hunting those damn bonus's.
I need to get my ROI up too, its only at 14%
, I go out on the bubble too much. I'll have to make a new post sometime to analyze my tournament play, right now I gotta finish this damn interpoker bonus.
Congrats on 8 in a row, I still dont know how thats possible o_0.
