The probability of that is just sick. Let's assume you take first 14% of all tournaments you play. The probability of placing eight firsts consecutively is 0.14^8 = 0.0000001478 or about one in 6.66 million. Not to put a touch of reality back onto the situation, but that's something I wouldn't bank on happening again for quite some time.
OMG! You're kidding, right? Damn, just when I thought I was starting to get good... turns out I'm just lucky. Crap. Honestly, I didn't even think I was doing anything special other than playing patient tight aggro poker and jamming the bubble. Other than tourney 7, I usually got in with the best of it, and most of my HU matches were cakewalks.
1 in 6.6 million? That's insane if true. Methinks perhaps I should've run out and bought a lottery ticket?

Anyone who places three 1sts consecutively, much less eight, just went on a lucky streak - no matter how good they are. So yes, although you probably played extremely well, you also got extremely lucky.

I always think it's funny when people base their poker abilities on how they did in the recent tournament they played. Either "I am so good at poker, no one can stop me" or "wow, I am going to stop playing poker completely."
It's one game buddy! People need to understand that making the correct play won't always make you a short term winner. So many people forget that poker is a LONG TERM game, so forget about your short-term wins or losses.

Ok, my fault... I thought my reputation here might preclude the necessity of the need for a [sarcasm] tag, but apparently not. Obviously I know that my feat was extremely lucky, and that's why my comments about feigning shock that it wasn't skill, were humorous (to me, anyway). I may need to be lectured about check-calling river bets and need reminders not to pay off monsters by tricky players, but the last thing I need is a lesson on variance in a long term game.

you guys....
let the man gloat for crying out loud. we all know he's terrible and just got super lucky.
it didn't need to be said.
Hey Scotty, remember you walking me throught my first MTT cash finish? ahhh the memories...
we need to do more of that with newbies. THAT is educational when a veteran is helping you read the table and debating on what to do real time.
as a matter of fact I will volunteer (AH HA!) to walk a newcomer (someone who registers and posts) through a STT using AIM simply because I owe a lot to this site and to guys like Scotty.
Any who wants to take me up on this just send me a private message. I'm serious.
