Hand 2:
The last thing you want is to call and get shoved into and forced to fold. So you need to raise, but you should raise an amount that will let you reasonably fold if you must. I would raise to about 6BB, 2400 chips.
Of the players left to act, bhall37, and dirtstar83 could shove and you'd probably be forced to call on odds. If Piedr0 shoved you'd fold, and if zoz45 or teslastyx called you would have enough ammo to let you play the flop with more than just an all-in bet. If either of those big stacks shoved or reraised, you could fold.
Shoving puts too many chips at risk with a hand that doesn't warrant it with that many players left to act. Raising more, to say 4000 chips won't let you do anything but shove on the flop and will force you to call if piedr0 goes all in, which you would prefer not to do since he has can wait for a hand that beats jacks. Since you're calling if bhall37 or dirtstar83 will shove anyway, there's no reason to discourage them by raising too much.
I don't really see any reason to raise less than 6BB, it's about the minimum you could reasonably raise here.

Hand 1: Snap call
Hand 2: I would 3bet to like 5k to (hopefully) isolate. I think we are too deep here to just shove over the top with so many left to act. If one of the other big stacks come over the top you can still get away. If you aren't comfortable putting that much in and then folding to a raise then you may as well push for max FE but I don't like it.

1st hand you really have to call.
2nd hand I would probably raise like 4K. You have enough chips to be able to fold and get away and still be quite comfortable, also if you raise and the big stack calls you might be able to gain some chips from him if you catch a favorable flop.

Hand 1: click call. get beer. have more chips.
Hand 2: You're in a funny spot. Agree with Mirage and Dil, that you don't want to get pressured into a forced call. I don't think you need to raise it that much, frankly a min re-raise here will have the same effect, maybe up to about 3k if it makes you more comfortable. It will force out everything you don't want. If you get pushed on, fold, minimal losses. I can't see many people flat calling 6-8 bbs with a middle pair.
