It seems almost imossible to get away from top two, but you could be facing a set of 7s. However, would such a tight player cold call preflop with 7s like that???
Call and spike an ace for teh nuts.

Anyone else have an opinion?
Ugig, it's about 10:30 am EST right now. It's a little early, but the guys will probably be on in the next few hours. I'm actually very curious to hear additional feedback myself (as well as what you did).

From the tone of the post, it sounds like a set of 7's to me. However, there are plenty of other hands he might be doing this with like AJ, AQ, lower 2 pair, flush draw, etc. You are getting relatively decent odds to call this, and there are plenty of hands you're beating at this point. Make the call and pray.

Combo draw is easily possible, call this all day. This isn't a hand you can get away from for fear the dude has 77.

I go broke here ... 70% of the time you win here with him pushing with 7T or A7. Other 30% he wins with a set of 7's being that those are the only hands i can see him playing this way according to what you said about him.

I folded, and he showed a set of 7s.
This is pretty close to where I quit for the night, I was only playing one NL200, two NL100 and a stud table (and finishing a few tournies, but no brain cells are devoted to those).
I think I was on tilt.
Cavman, I am interested in betting the flop. I think it was perhaps the better play than the check. Why would you personally have bet the flop?
I'd spent about 300 hands with each of the other players, had pretty solid reads. I knew that the two fish were playing shitty cards, Axs, KQ, junk like that. Minsk was the worry, almost certainly the call was a decent ace (perhaps suited) or low pp. I think, as most people said, he makes that play with ~70% hands that I have beat. However, I folded, because I really felt like it was a set...and in that case, I did not have odds to call.
Anyway, witness me on tilt...

as goofy was saying, i would treat this hand as the nuts and be trying to get all the money in on the flop. This is easier by having him raise so you can push. he has a range that is likely to have connected with the flop, so you can expect to be raised a good % of the time. You miss out on a bet by leading if he would've c-betted with nothing, but by leading it is much more possible to win a big pot. also, although less important to me in this case, you don't give a free card.
fwiw, i really don't like this fold. to me, it's pretty much the same as set over set, and there are very few scenarios where i can get away from the hand, especially on such a drawy board.
