Idiotic Maniacs Following (General SNG Question)
by LadyWrestler » Sun Jan 14, 2007 3:18 pm
I seem to be running into this a lot lately and was wondering if anyone knows anything that I have not thought of, heard of, or read yet: How to play when there is a complete idiot maniac type directly following you in every hand (unless maniac is UTG). You know the type: I raise the nut rereaises, I try to limp the nut raises, I go all-in the nut calls with 72o and sucks out (or when UTG nut raises, I reraise, nut re-reraises). Call reraises with moderately strong hands, miss the flop and face a large bet or raise from the nut. Etc.
I know the old basics on playing against a nut to my left...just wondering if anybody has discovered anything new that seems to be working lately. I seem to be getting tired of waiting for that special hand to bust the maniac with, only for that hand to never come...or getting sucked out when it does come...we all know that powerhouse hands do not come around very often to begin with.
Sorry. This seems to have turned into a semi-rant here. I know we have all been down that path before...but...lately...I am wearing a huge rut into that frigging path! Maybe I will start going into these online SNG's armed and just shoot the sonzabitches!

I like to use the chat.
Often a good "Listen asshole you raise me one more time I'm going to fucking murder your first born" is all it takes.
Just play tight, so tight that you only play hands that you are willing to all the way with PF.
I love this type of player in cash games. Raises all in every hand when he sits down until someone busts him or he doubles. Just hope you are the one who gets to bust him.

I think i would just limp call his raises preflop if i knew he was raising everytime with anything. Then if i hit TP and a good flop i would just put him all in.
Chances are you will double up and have a monster stack and a very good chance at making the money or you just go find a different game if he happens to win.
