As I've always though, depends on your skill.
Good players can make more money playing looser. Most players can't, and can actually only reduce the money they LOSE by playing tight.
Most players are just losers. Your opponents should ideally be the losers that play a lot of hands.

I agree with you! It also depends on the type of table I am playing at, which is extremely important, IMO. I find, at extremely loose tables, I have to loosen up a bit to make money. I do normally play tighter than the majority at the table, though.

Interesting. I usually tighten up at looser tables. Playing loose like the rest of the table can put you in tough decisions with marginal hands.
Example from today: 50NL 5CD table plays very loose. Couple call stations and a couple LAGs. Instead of opening with Jacks or better I switched to Aces with at least a KQJ kicker (the kicker reduces the chance your opponent has one of these pairs). Seemed to work fine, the average winning hand was probably about a pair of tens. When the players switch and it's a rock garden, raising with Tens is fine, and opening with 8s or better is fine too. Didn't hurt that a couple of the 2 pairs I drew to improved to FHs either. I usually just stand with 2 pair to represent because the odds of improving are so bad =)
In general, I play opposite the table. I thought that was how we were supposed to play?
Sometimes, though, on a real card drought I can loosen up and rely on table image to pick up some blinds + antes.

Hmmm. Interesting. You make some good points. I was thinking more in line with calling, betting, and raising than I was about preflop hand selection. But, when trying to steal blinds from good positions, I agree that hand selection has to be looser on tight tables. Poker is such fun, yes?

I have found that there are a lot of players who play lots of garbage preflop/predraw but are super tight after that. THOSE players are EASY to play with.
When I note somebody I have two notes, one for preflop and one for postflop. Don't get tied down to your "super loose" read when in fact he might be super tight postflop!
