Just wanted to say hello. My name is jason aka EmmyPlayer.
Was wondering what your thoughts were as to where on the table the best position is, whether its the dealer, big or little blind or anywhere else at the table when playing no limit holdem?
thanks EmmyPlayer

hi emmy,
no position is "better" than the other, but each does have their distinctive advantages and disadvantages.
i advise you to read around on this site as there are lots of helpful tips on different situations based on position (i can't find one specific one for you now)
welcome!

Well, for instance, you may get to see free flops in the BB, but then you have to act first or second for the rest of the hand. However, I'd rather be on the button all night than rotate through. Unfortunately, you can't do this
Position is very powerful in holdem. For all the times you flop two pair or a set out of the blinds, you'll have made many times that from the button.

to tell you the truth, as i was posting that i was running out the door and thus i began to think, hm, what are the advantages of EP other than
a.) free from BB
b.) trap ability
c.) blocking bet/bet first/semi-bluff
d.) confuse crap out of opponents and put them on a decision
so i think really trapping from EP is the best thing you can do, i mean i'd personally also rather have position, but it is good to always know how to play from each position and understand the drawbacks of them as well.
so yes, i will now agree with everyone else
had to reclarify my thoughts, thank you realyreal

OK, fair enough. Before the flop, you get to act last as the BB, so there are some advantages to seeing everone else's strength. Of course, if no one but the SB is in the pot, then you're in great position -- last -- for pre-flop AND post-flop. So, in that situation, BB really is the best. Otherwise, I'd be the dealer all day if I could
