Election Day
by LadyWrestler » Sat Nov 04, 2006 5:28 pm
There has been some discussion here about whether there are more conservatives or more liberals online. Well, we can take our own unscientific mini poll right here on Tight Poker.
On election day, which political party (or non-party) will get most of your votes?
(Choices are in alphabetical order.)

I put Libertarian because they would receive it if there were enough of them on the ballot, but for many races there were none.
Here's something to compare our forum to...

I think there are more conservatives in the poker forum's that I read than I'm used to. On one forum in particular I just can't believe the pack of loonies and they are why there are no conservative posters. Say I'd post an opinion, I'd get... Where are your facts? Where are your links? Can't you prove anything? You're just spouting what your handlers tell you, you brownshirt racist homphobic sheeple. Why do you hate America? You neo-con repug. How can you worship Bush? Now, why don't you debate with logic and facts like we do?
So, really, I don't talk politics seriously on the internet.

I am going out of my way to vote for minor party candidates. Since both Dems and Reps are all douchebags, I want to state clearly that I am unhappy with them and neither deserves my vote. If enough people feel like I do, eventually a real 3rd party may evolve.

I'm going to vote against every incumbent. On the Arkansas balots there's usually only Democrates or Republicans so not much choice..
I think the only way we can send a message is to vote out all the incumbant we have. Unless they are among the few that are worth keeping.

Around here, they do not send out sample ballots, but I found one online. There are no Libertarians listed. Basically, my 3 important choices are...
Senate
D: Jean Bright
R: Olympia Snowe
I like and am voting for Snowe.
House
D: Michael Michaud
R: Laurence D'Amboise
I am not voting for Michaud (He totally supports Baldacci and his plans for Maine).
Governor
D: John Baldacci
G: Pat LaMarche
R: Chandler Woodcock
I am NOT voting for Baldacci. He has hurt Maine's small towns and cities enough, but southern Maine will probably elect him again. (His only serious challenger is Woodcock, so Woodcock gets my vote.)
So...based on the choices I have here...most of my votes will go to the Republicans.
