AA question

I don't have the hand with me right now, but I wondered what other's thoughts might be on this situation.
I get AA in early position, I make a 4x raise, this is $25NL. Get one caller.
pot $2.40. Flop is all rags with two diamonds. I bet $2.00 and caller re-raises to about $8.00. So I figure either he has KK or QQ or a flush draw. I push it all-in, he calls and has KJ of diamonds. He hits his flush on the river. I wondered if I should have called and then pushed on the turn if no diamond comes up. I guess I am second guessing myself, because maybe I have a chance of him folding if no diamond hits on turn. At this level he would have probably called anyway. This was only my third hand at the table so I had no idea what type player he was.

Last night I had beats in the hundreds of BBs which resulted in me pushing over bluff flop reraises and then losing when I'm an 86% favourite. Worse has happenned to others; I like to think of the quads beat negreanu took in hsp. People push A high flops with A6 against my AK and then hit their 6.
It's all standard, no need for this to be in the strategy forum.
