I suspect it depends entirely on the tempo of the game. As presented, the raiser a maniac and everyone else rational, then I'd probably push. I don't really mind a coinflip even when you're third in chips because of the size of the blinds. You'll need to chip up a lot, and it's probably better to take them from the maniac than the better players.
Even if everyone's loose and you expect a couple of eliminations in the next hands it's still not terrible to take a race here. If the shorter stacks are about to start moving in routinely, it'd be nice to have them well covered.
If everyone's so tight you expect to be able to steal your way through the next couple levels you might find a fold. But I'd still take a flip there if I was certain I was ahead. The extra chips would allow you to attack the blinds with good hands from earlier positions, which is a bit safer than relying strictly on steals.
All that being said, I'd fold in a heartbeat to a solid player. In his shoes I wouldn't come in without a good hand that early. If you add in the fact that 600 is 20% of his stack and a bunch of people are short enough to come over the top then I wouldn't be doing it with a hand I didn't intend to call a push with.
