$60: couple AQ hands
by darinvg » Thu Sep 21, 2006 7:58 pm
Just trying to get a feel for when AQ is good. 1st hand I'm under 10BB and figured it was go time.
2nd hand there was a limp and raise so his hand seemed stronger and I had 10BB left. Comments?

I don't like either situation. Too much action will scare me away. I'm not sure a raise from the button will get a lot of respect either.
The first one, you don't really have any FE so you are going to show down. AQo just isn't strong enough in this position. Take the orbit.
The second one, you get an UTG limp and a raise, so I let it go since your odds of winning a showdown are, again, not that great against a lot of hands that could raise or limp UTG.

1) There's no reason to think you don't have the best hand, so get it in. You're probably flipping but you really need those chips.
2) Really tough fold...but you still have 10BB. I doubt UTG is doing this without a good hand with his stack, unless you have a read that says he's a habitual limper.

I agree with Darin's plays on both hands.
1. This is very easy, for so many reasons. nh.
2. You went from being a possible favourite to being almost certainly doomed by the action, unless the action is from nutbag donkeys. Annoying, but reasonably painless laydown. AK would have been harder.
