50$ Goof
by mousey » Thu Dec 01, 2005 10:40 pm
So what happened was I thought I raised the guy all in. But I accidentally miscalculated. As any respectable poker player would know, it was not my intent to fold for 5 fucking cents in a 50$+ pot.
What happened was, I got an email and switched windows. When he reraised me the fold button came up right where my cursor was and I folded by accident.
MOTHER FUCK!!!
Anyways, I contacted poker stars support, lets see if they are nice to me

That.. sucks.. SO.. bad.
I've had the same thing (kinda) happen to me a number of times. I'll be sending an IM or something, and as I bring up my mouse to move the IM out of the way, the table that it's currently my action on pops in front of it, and of course it lands on the raise button when I have 32o..
I've never had something THAT bad though. You probably had him dominated.

Another reason why Stars fucking sucks...the way tables always appear at the front, and in focus, when it's your turn. This can't happen with Party, because there's a certain "lag time" between when the buttons appear and when you can actually click them.

I've had it happen at party before but not as big as a pot as this. I find that if I leave the speakers on the small beep is enough for me to know not to click without looking first, lol. But yes, stars can screw you.

one thing stars does good is that you can't click on an action button if the window does not have the focus. I usually find it a pain if it is my turn to act, and the stars window does not have to focus, but i can still see the buttons; i have to click twice (i usually click about 5 times swearing

970:1 odds ...tough lay down
Does anybody have any record of any site helping someone out given this situation? I'd be very surprised if they gave you your money back, and be super surprised if they checked the HH, determined you would have won, then credited you with the full pot. Let us know.
On a side note - you know this was entirely your fault, right? When multi-tabling, it is up to you to get it right. We can whine all we want about their software and how it makes it easy to misclick - if you know that, then you need to be more careful!
Sorry if that seemed directed at only you, Mousey. It's meant for everybody I've seen complain about misclicks. I'm sure your original message was meant more as a warning than a bitch, too.

I'm sure she had pocket sixes, making this the greatest lay down of all time.

Yeah I know it is my fault. I just wanted to share my pain. I did contact Stars asking if there is a way to turn off the focus grabbing and they said not really. They can't do much in terms of my hand, those are the game rules. A bet is a bet. It just sucks because if I had mucked that hand in a live casino by accident, the dealer would have asked me about my intentions just to be sure.

Well it has happened to me on PP before. In my case I didn't fold I called an all-in bet, with J6 or some nonsense. It was about the second hand of the tourney. The idiot that went all-in had 67s or something like that and I won. I was looking at the previous HH and I was just about to close the HH window when the table popped forward and the call button was right were the close button for the HH used to be.
